Mother in court alleges push-around by police
BARBER Clinton Vanderbilt (no address given) appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton yesterday on charges of sexual activity with a child under seven years of age, threatening the child’s mother and provoking a breach of the peace. The charge in relation to sex is indictable and said the offence was committed on December 30, 2011 and the girl’s mother told the court the accused touched her daughter’s private parts.
The woman lamented that she was pushed around on many occasions before the Police, finally, charged the accused, also with having threatened and provoked her on May 2, 2012.
Vanderbilt pleaded not guilty to the last two charges, on each of which he was granted $15,000 bail.
In respect of the sex case, he was ordered to post $120,000 surety and all the cases will be called, again, on May 28.
