DDL on board for Guyana Independence t20 Cup

SPONSORSHIPS have continued to pour into the biggest anticipated Guyana Independence t20 Cup, in Berbice, as Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) recently made a solid contribution towards the most promising and exciting t20 splash, billed for the historic Albion Sports Complex next Saturday. The tournament which forms part of the celebrations to mark Guyana’s 46th Independence Anniversary will see West Indies Test spinner Devendra Bishoo entertain fans with high quality spin bowling along with the young guns, Veerasammy Permaul, Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai and others.
Cannon-hitting Jonathan Foo, Andre Percival, Gajanand Singh, Rajiv Ivan, Sewnarine Chattergoon, Richard Ramdeen and others are expected to spark up the Albion Park with sixes. Berbicians can expect nothing less than a fun-filled day.
The day’s action will comprise four exciting teams – Universal DVD Berbice Titans, Karibee Rice Tigers, Hits and Jams Superstars and New Line Cavaliers – battling for supremacy and over $1M in prizes.
At a ceremony at the DDL Berbice office, Branch Manager Albert Budhoo presented the Company’s sponsorship package to Tournament Secretary Cosmata Lindie, in the presence of coordinator Anil Beharry.
Speaking briefly, the Branch Manager expressed DDL’s delight to be associated with the tournament and see this event as a medium that will help to promote cricket in Berbice.
DDL has been actively involved in community development through sports and Anil Beharry thanked the sponsor and pledged that the tournament will be managed with proper accountability, transparency and in a professional manner.
Patrons will have an opportunity to win fabulous gate prizes including cell phones, mp3 players, lazy boy suites, cricket gear and hampers among other token from various companies which will be distributed free of cost.
The games will commence at 10:30hrs with two games, followed by a cultural presentation.
As night steps in, the atmosphere will be transformed into Las Vegas-style with the light up of big screen projectors, cheer leaders and the finals to be played under floodlights. Ten lighting towers will illuminate the atmosphere to the best Albion has ever seen.
Fireworks and musical entertainment will be provided along with live performances by local artiste. The crowd will rock to the rhythms of Crown Vibes International Sound Systems.
Admission to the venue is $500 for adults and $200 for children. Gates open at 09:00hrs and tickets will be sold only at the venue. Patrons are urged to grab them before they are sold out because the coordinators do not want to experience overcrowding.
Digicel Guyana, who has been making significant inroads into the local communities through cricket, education and other areas as well as other sponsors, will come on board in a big way offering special promotions, giveaways and tokens for patrons.
