SIXTY-year-old Rudolph Narine, called “Boy”, of F1 Logwood, Enmore, East Coast Demerara, had spent only two weeks as a security guard at a store in his neighbourhood when he was found yesterday, throat slit and hands bound behind his back at his place of employ.
His vicious demise comes hard on the heels of the murder of 40-year-old taxi driver, Rajendra Puran, of Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, whose body was discovered some two weeks ago in a drain at the said Logwood, Enmore, bound, gagged and with marks of violence.
Speculation is rife that Puran may have been killed elsewhere and his body dumped at Enmore, according to investigators who are still probing the murder.
Speaking with the Guyana Chronicle early yesterday, Ramgiawan Ramlagan, proprietor of R. Ramlagan & Sons General Store at which Narine worked, said he was greeted by the gruesome sight when he showed up for work that morning.
Noting that he does not live at his place of business, Ramlagan said when he showed up there  about 06:30hrs, he called for the security guard but got no response. As he walked stealthily around the yard, he noticed the man slumped in a corner in the front of the shop in a pool of blood.

Upon seeing that, he immediately informed the police, who came, opened the gate, and commenced investigations.
Ramlagan said that in all his 20 years of operation at the very location, this is the first time that something like this has ever happened.
He said the perpetrators of this heinous crime gained entry to the store from the back of the premises, and carted off several items, including money. He could not immediately say how much cash was taken from the business place.
He said that persons initially thought that the guard was shot, but after taking a closer look, it was revealed that the man’s throat had been slit.
Ramlagan told the Chronicle that besides the community policing groups, regular police usually patrol the area at night.
Over at the home of the late Rudolph Narine, reputed wife Champa Allicock was still trying to come to grips with the reality of losing her husband, who did not even complete three weeks on the job. She said that prior to being employed at the store, her reputed husband would do carpentry work around Enmore and neighbouring villages, and would also catch fish.
She said she got a call around 07:45hrs yesterday, informing her that Rudolph was murdered at his workplace. She explained that she and one of Narine’s daughters rushed over to the scene, but were not immediately allowed to view the body. It was only after the police had conducted their investigations that family members were allowed to see the body.
Ms. Allicock is desperately hoping that the police would apprehend the killer(s) of her reputed husband. At the time of speaking with the Guyana Chronicle, she had not yet been visited, or even telephoned, by her late reputed husband’s employer, at whose premises her husband met his demise.
Meanwhile, Narine’s family members are calling on the authorities to get a grip on the lawlessness that seems to be taking this country by storm. They were referring to the many murders, accidents, armed robberies and other unlawful activities that cause persons to suffer and go through unnecessary pains. The police are investigating Narine’s murder.
