I have noticed, with a sense of dismay, that the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha has shifted its emphasis from the propagation of Sanaatan Vaidic Dharma per se’ to the pursuit of socio-culturalism. I humbly submit that, while certain social institutions and pursuits do have merit, the pillars of Hindu religious practice(s) should not be shaken – and certainly not by the very organisation which brought a new consciousness, meaning and pride to Hindus throughout Guyana regarding the practice of their Dharma.
If the present socio-cultural thrust continues, a fertile ground is being prepared for Hindu believers to migrate to religions where the bias is on the practice of and participation in religious tenets per se’.
We have to be careful that young Hindus, currently being exposed to the proliferation of social events being promoted by Hindu Organisations, do not come to the understanding that these social events constitute Hindu Dharma.
Pandit Reepu is not very active anymore. Prakash Gossai is no longer with us. Have yajnas and similar religious functions taken their leave also?
There must be Pandits who can fill the breach with like enthusiasm and results as Reepu and Prakash. Hindu Dharma in Guyana is at stake here.
Pillars of Hinduism should not be shaken
