MARK Stephens, charged with threatening his mother, yesterday, appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton and was remanded to prison until he could produce a valid address for alternative accommodation. Stephens, 18, of 58 Sophia, Greater Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to the charge which said on May 6 last, at their home, he made use of threatening behaviour to Tinnette Stephens.
Stephens told the court he is a grass cutter and Police Sergeant Tracymay Gittens, prosecuting, did not object to bail. She however asked that the bail be granted on condition that the defendant give an undertaking to the court that he will not interfere with his mother.
Gittens informed that Stephens picked up a cutlass and threatened to chop his mother.
The magistrate observed that the defendant and his mother could not co-exist in the same environment, and remanded him to prison until May 21. If he could secure alternative accommodation in the meantime, he would be released on bail.
