Impending increase in cost to keep bodies at Suddie Funeral Parlour
– blames rising electricity cost triggered by APNU/AFC budget cuts
CHAIRMAN of Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam), Mr. Parmanand Persaud has indicated to Councillors of the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) on Tuesday, that the cost of electricity is expected to move upwards by some 26 percent.
He said that is because of the Opposition parties in Parliament, A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) and Alliance for Change (AFC), initiated a of some $1 billion, from the Government subvention to Guyana Power & Light (GPL).
The Vice-Chairman, Mr. Vishnu Samaroo, also announced that the charge for keeping bodies at Suddie Funeral Parlour, on the Essequibo Coast, will increase like the GPL tariffs.
He said the impact of the Budget subsidy to GPL will seriously affect poor people and declared that APNU and AFC Leaders, Mr. David Granger and Mr. Khemraj Ramjattan, respectively, do not have feelings for the grassroots people as, instead of helping them to a better life, they are destroying them.
Samaroo said APNU and AFC have no vision for development and are jealous of the government’s massive countrywide programme, which is the reason they slashed the Budget.
