Twenty-one-year-old Atesha Summer appeared at the Vigilance Magistrate court to answer to an assault charge. Police Prosecutor Sheril Graham told the court that on Friday, April 4, at Foulis on the East Coast of Demerara, Summer assaulted her physically challenged grandmother, Sherly Walley.
Graham told the court that investigations revealed that the assault stemmed from an exchange of words between Summer and another occupant of the home, as to who is the owner of the property, when the grandmother tried to intervene, and was assaulted by her granddaughter.
Summer pleaded not guilty to the charge and was placed on $30,000 bail.
