A 17-year-old who hails from Mahaica on the East Coast Demerara, was arraigned for unlawfully wounding Boodram Mottie, a proprietor of a neighbourhood grocery shop.
The court was unclear as to what caused the incident between the two. The only words that emanated from the alleged perpetrator’s mouth, Godfrey Major, who stood in court motionless, was that he was employed as an all-rounder mason, and he pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate Nyasha Williams-Hatmin, presiding at the Magistrate’s court in the village, released the lad on $40,000 bail, and the matter was then transferred to the Mahaica Magistrate’s Court.
