President briefed ahead of Heritage Foundation flag raising in New Jersey

A MESSAGE from President Donald Ramotar will be read on June 1 when the Guyana American Heritage Foundation hoists the Golden Arrowhead for the fifth year in East Orange, City Hall New Jersey. The president handed the correspondence over to Secretary of the Guyana American Heritage Foundation, Allison Butters-Grant, who briefed him on the upcoming ceremony during a meeting at the Office of the President.
This year’s event, hosted by the City’s Mayor, will feature the launch of a journal promoting businesses owned by Guyanese in the Disapora. Several dignitaries, including Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver and a number of politicians are expected to attend.
Since her return to Guyana, Butters-Grant said she has been busy sourcing documentation on Guyana from the relevant ministries in the area of tourism and natural resources, with the aim of luring investments.
“We support a lot of people in Guyana from the Diaspora… be it family, friends, schools, NGOs…” Grant said.
With a mission to showcase Guyana, in an interview with the Government Information Agency (GINA), she explained that the Guyana American Heritage Foundation plays the role of an intermediary between the Diaspora and Guyana.
“Bringing investment to Guyana creates jobs… what we would like to create is a place in the Diaspora where investors can reach out to the Guyana American Heritage Foundation and we can steer them in the right direction to investments that they are interested in Guyana,” she said.
She facilitated the participation of a housing development team for GuyExpo recently, and vows to continue playing her part in bringing awareness about Guyana to sections of the Diaspora interested in returning to their place of birth.
The Guyana American Heritage Foundation has also lent a charitable hand to families and Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in need, and the construction of a library in Agricola by President of the foundation Lady Ira Lewis has been a product of the patronage.
Lady Lewis, who works with an organisation supporting autistic children, is interested in returning to dedicate her services locally.
