No arrests yet in taxi drivers murders

POLICE said, yesterday, they have not yet made any arrests for the brutal murders of taxi drivers Renie Williams, 25, of Albouystown, Georgetown and Rajendra Puran, 40, of Diamond, East Bank Demerara. Nor have they been able to find Puran’s missing Toyota Raum, HB 9875, after the bound, gagged and mutilated body of the Lot 1296 Section C, Block Y, Diamond resident was found in a drain at Logwood, Enmore, East Coast Demerara, last Thursday.
However, a post mortem revealed that Puran died of manual strangulation and blunt trauma to the head.
Detectives at the scene said Puran’s death might have been   the result of a robbery/hijacking and he was killed elsewhere and dumped at the Enmore location.
Meanwhile, Williams, of Lot 138 King Edward Street, Albouystown, was executed outside his home, on April 30, by a lone gunman.
The victim was about to exit HB 9310 when he was shot and killed in front of his home in the presence of his wife, Shondeen Walters, about 02:00 hrs.
She said the shooter was clad in dark attire and masked when he shot her husband through the right side back window of HB 9310.
The ex-policeman was the father of two children and is also survived by two siblings.
