First offenders fined for driving under the influence

FIRST offenders Romel Tooknauth and Amaro Bharat (no addresses given) were each fined $7,500 by Magistrate Alex Moore at Sparendaam Court yesterday. Both pleaded guilty to driving while their breath alcohol level exceeded the legal limit, individually at .084 microgrammes.
The April 6 driving under the influence offences were committed at Plaisance, also on East Coast Demerara and the drivers’ licences were endorsed.
The Court was told that the defendants were incapable of fully controlling the vehicles in which they were, at the wheel.
