THANKS to a helmet-trick from Joventay Best and a hat-trick of goals from Andre Trotz Jr, Christ Church Secondary School mauled North Georgetown Secondary 11-0, when action in the second annual Scotiabank/Pepsi Football Academy continued at the Ministry of Education, Carifesta Avenue-based ground last Tuesday. Two matches were played while the other two were not due to the no-show of both St Stanislaus College and Lodge Secondary School male teams, while the former’s female team failed to show up for their clash with East Ruimveldt Secondary.
In the other match that was played, New Campbellville Secondary edged St George’s Secondary 3-2, but it was Best and Trotz’ feats which highlighted the day’s action.
With football genes flowing through his blood – as his father after whom he was named was a former national player – the young Trotz found the back of the net in the 2nd, 23rd and 35th minutes of play, while Best did so in the 8th, 16th, 26th and 30th minutes of play.
Coupled with Shemroy Clarke’s brace which was scored in the 7th and 29th minutes and strikes from Kellon Jack (14th) and Andre Henry 33rd minute, Christ Church easily dominated and destroyed their opponents.
Daniel Ross 12th), Shamar Barrow (43rd) and Jamel Chan 58th) were responsible for New Campbellville’s goals in their victory over St George’s, for whom Ozeah Small scored a double in the 22nd and 52nd minutes of the game.
Meanwhile, the organisers are having a difficult task in obtaining a playing venue which continues to plague the running-off of the Academy this year, forcing them to relocate their matches to weekend.
In today’s action which will be played at the Tucville ground from 09:15hrs, Lodge Secondary and North Georgetown will clash in a male encounter, Tucville and East Ruimveldt will collide at 10:30hrs in a female fixture while the final game which kicks off at 11:45hrs will see Central High and Christ Church meet in a male matchup.
The action continues this Wednesday at the same venue, with Lodge Secondary and New Campbellville going head-to-head in a female encounter from 16:00 hrs.
