THE Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) during a ceremony last Thursday at its head office in New Amsterdam launched the fourth edition of the Berbice Cricket Review Magazine. The 24-page magazine was a joint production of the BCB Special Events Committee and the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTYSC). It reviewed the outstanding work of the BCB for the period January 2011 to March 2012.
Chairman of the Special Events Committee and Editor of the Magazine, Hilbert Foster, hailed the launching of the 2011 Review Magazine as another red letter day for the BCB, as it strives to inform shareholders of the game on the rapid developments taking place in Berbice cricket.
He described the BCB’s public relations programme as one of the best in the cricketing world and stated that the BCB is determined that everyone is kept abreast of everything in Berbice.
Foster stated that the magazine was printed at the F&H Printery in Georgetown at the cost of $350 000 and includes five pictorial reviews, 37 articles on tournaments and programmes, profile on promising Under-15 player Shimron Hetmyer, a thank-you segment to sponsors, the BCB financial statement and reports of the Special Events and Cricket Competitions Committees.
Foster disclosed that the magazine would be shared out to all shareholders in Berbice and Guyana’s cricket, schools, NGOs and sponsors of the BCB and it would also be distributed overseas in the Caribbean and North America in an effort to get other cricket organisations to emulate the work of the BCB.
BCB’s treasurer Anil Beharry expressed gratitude to the sponsors who made the 2011 Review Magazine possible and expressed his profound satisfaction at the overall structure and development of Berbice cricket.
President of the BCB, Keith Foster, noted that the sharing of information is a priority of his administration as he believes in transparency and openness in leadership.
The president described the Berbice cricketing fans as the most informed and this makes the work of the BCB easy to obtain the cooperation of clubs, schools and the general public.
He praised the work of the Special Events Committee which has totally transformed the face of Berbice cricket and issued a challenge to other cricket boards in Guyana to follow in the footsteps of his cricket board.
The BCB would like to express gratitude to the RHTYSC which has single-handedly raised the $350 000 for the magazine and then wrote, edited and produced the 24-page edition to which interested persons who require copies of the magazine can contact Beharry (623-6875), Angela Haniff (333-2375) or Hilbert Foster on 337-4562.
