WITH the aim of providing local cyclists with adequate preparation for the upcoming National Sports Commission (NSC)-organised Independence three-stage cycle road race, the Guyana Cycling Federation (GCF) with sponsorship from Ray’s Auto Sales has organised a 40-lap event on Sunday. The event, which is open to all cyclists, pedals off at 08:00hrs and will see the cyclists battle for supremacy around the inner circuit of the National Park, with the top six finishers receiving cash prizes, while there will be 15 sprint prizes up for grabs.
All the country’s top cyclists, such as Alonso Greaves, the unrelated Geron and Marlon ‘Fishy’ Williams, Warren McKay, Robin Persaud, Jude Bently, Raynauth Jeffrey, Paul De Nobrega, Walter Grant-Stuart, Orville Hinds and Junior Niles, are expected to compete in this race.
Cyclists are asked to produce their licences before the start of the race and are reminded to wear their club colours or they will not be allowed to compete. Unattached cyclists are asked to wear white jerseys.
The GCF would like to express its thanks and appreciation to Ray’s Auto Sales and Spares for sponsoring this race at this juncture.
