Driver escapes serious injury after blowout

CHRISTOPHER Giles, 40, of Lot I18-926 Latchmansingh Street, Tucville, escaped serious injury yesterday morning, after one of the wheels on the car he was driving suffered a blowout and the vehicle ended up in a canal along Sussex Street, also in Georgetown. Giles, a former national footballer, was proceeding South on Vlissengen Road into Sussex Street when the left front tyre punctured and he lost control, causing the car to turn turtle.
The accident occurred about 09:55 hrs but it was not ascertained whether Giles was the lone occupant of PJJ 6000 at the time.
It was the third vehicle to be involved in a mishap due to the deteriorating condition of a bridge along that route which is in dire need of repairs.
