Superstar Sonu Nigam arrives Wednesday

THE Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha is urging Sonu Nigam’s fans to get their tickets early for the concert on Wednesday April 28 to avoid disappointment. At present, there are only limited numbers of the VVIP and VIP reserved seating tickets remaining. Tickets for general seating are available at all ticket locations. International singing Superstar Sonu Nigam is all set for his first concert in Guyana, and has an entertainment-filled performance prepared for fans here. He will be giving his Guyanese fans a 3-hour, non-stop session of rocking and mesmerising Bollywood melodies, comprising his popular hits as well as gems from yesteryear, in a concert which promises to be one of the most memorable musical treats ever held in Guyana.
Sonu and troupe will be arriving in Guyana several days before the concert. Indeed, a special welcome is planned for Sonu at the airport, when he gets here on Wednesday.
The Sabha is hosting this mega-concert at the National Stadium in celebration of the 174th Anniversary of the Arrival of East Indians to Guyana. Gates open at 17:00hrs (5pm), and the concert begins at 19:00 hours (7.00pm).
Coming with Sonu for the concert will be talented singer Gunjan Singh and TV actress/model Manasi Verma. Gunjan has been featured on Sonu Nigam’s album titled “Rafi Resurrected”. She also has some releases of her own. Manasi has appeared in a number of TV serials, including the popular ZEETV soap Kasamh Se, in which she played Piya.  They will be accompanied by Sonu’s full band of outstanding musicians and technical personnel. The Sabha’s own dance troupe, the Dharmic Nritya Sangh, will also perform.
Described as the “King of Playback”, the “Golden Voice of India”, and “Lord of the Chords”, the sensational Sonu has been singing since the age of three.
He is equally known for his rendition of the popular songs of the legendary Mohammed Rafi as he is for his own Bollywood hits, his role as television host for the musical talent show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, judge on X-Factor, and his non-filmi albums.  He has sung in approximately 54 different voices, and has sung with international artistes such as Britney Spears and Jermaine Jackson. He has won numerous awards for his songs, including those in popular films Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Kal Ho Na Ho, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, Om Shanti Om, Saathiya, and Main Hoon Na.
Indeed, he has been the voice of many Bollywood stars, such as Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Amir Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Govinda.
The Sabha has been working assiduously to put all arrangements in place to make Sonu’s first concert in Guyana truly magnificent. Special focus has been given to stage, sound, lights, big screens and seating, so that patrons can have optimum enjoyment. There will be a number of food stalls featuring various Indian delicacies, such as sada rotis and chokhas, seven curry, authentic Indian cuisine and Indian sweets. As usual, there will be a strict no alcohol policy.
All proceeds of this event will be dedicated towards the construction of a shelter which will house children who are victims of abuse. The building will be based in Berbice, where the Sabha has already secured land. In addition to performing at the concert, Sonu will attend a special dinner hosted by the Sabha at the Pegasus on Friday, April 27th, where the building plan for the shelter will be launched.
Patrons who purchased VVIP all-inclusive tickets will also be attending the dinner.
