Johnson charged with fiancé Johnson murder further remanded

TWENTY-THREE-YEAR-OLD murder accused David Johnson was further remanded to prison yesterday, when he appeared before Magistrate Ann Mc Lennon at Wales Court. The case was postponed to May 21 after Police Sergeant Anand Sookhoo, prosecuting, said the file is not yet ready and requested a date for report and fixture.
When the accused made his previous appearance, the prosecutor had said he was not in possession of the case file, as additional statements were still to be taken and sent back to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Johnson is charged with the unlawful killing of his 20-year-old fiancée, Leonaka Natasha Johnson, last month.
The young woman’s body was found yards away from her Lot 17 Nismes River View home, also at West Bank Demerara, in a canal, by a youth who was grazing cows.
Family members had said the victim left home on the evening of March 15 to meet a friend and never returned.
The prisoner Johnson, of Lot 45 Norton Street, Lodge, Georgetown, had made his first appearance in front of Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus on March 19, at Vreed-en-Hoop Court, West Coast Demerara, four days after the corpse was discovered.
