GR taxi driver gunned down outside Campbellville home

… had been seeing married woman
TWENTY -FOUR-YEAR-OLD GR taxi driver Sanjay Jadoonauth, of 25 Dennis Street, Campbellville, was shot and killed by an unknown assailant just after 02.00hrs yesterday. The man had just pulled up in front of his gate when he was gunned down.
According to reports reaching the Guyana Chronicle, when Sanjay pulled up at his home, he was confronted by the lone gunman who opened fire on him. It is believed that Sanjay, who was shot while still in his car, attempted to drive away but ended up crashing into a utility pole .
Speaking with the Chronicle yesterday morning, the dead man’s father, Lomash Jadoonauth, explained that he heard his son’s car pull up, and seconds later, he heard what sounded like gun shots, but he thought it was a vehicle backfiring.
According to Jadoonauth, he  knew that something was really wrong only when he was visited by the police about two hours later, and asked if the car that crashed into a utility pole was his son’s.
Then he realised that his son had been shot .

He learnt that the police had noticed the smashed car and on investigating, had discovered his son bleeding inside the vehicle. They summoned an ambulance to take him to the hospital, but he died on the way.
The dead man’s father regrets not going outside when he heard what he thought was a vehicle backfiring.
“Perhaps if I did, my son would have been alive today”, he said.

The man expressed surprise that no one in the area called out to him before the police arrived on the scene He told the Chronicle that his son’s car was  well known since it was often parked right in front of his bridge most of the time.
Asked if the man had any problems with anyone, the older Jadoonauth said not that he knew of. He however recalled that Sanjay has been going around for sometime now with a young woman named Indira. He said that the woman was married, but this was not known to Sanjay until last month, when the woman’s husband surfaced.
The man told this publication that Indira never told the family that she was married. He added that the woman was never a frequent visitor to his home, but she did attend his daughter’s wedding recently.
He said that it was only last month when a man under the influence of alcohol showed up at his house and began asking questions about Sanjay. It was only when he, Jadoonauth, asked why the questions about his son, that the man said he was Indira’s husband.

Jadoonauth explained that the woman explained to his family that she operated a business and was robbed of everything by bandits years ago.
And while she was going through her struggles, her husband left her without telling her where he was going. She told family members that the man has been out of her life for years, without any contact , and might have even been abroad.
She explained that she was forced to sell everything she had, including property and vehicles, in an effort to settle business arrangements and commitments she had with several persons, Mr Jadoonauth added.
