A FORTY-TWO-YEAR-OLD father of 13 was fined $10,000 with the alternative of three months imprisonment yesterday, for threatening his reputed wife with a knife. Terrence Ferrier (no address given) pleaded guilty to the offence before Magistrate Allan Wilson, admitting that, on April 11, he threatened Melissa Donald.
Police Corporal, Simone Payne, prosecuting, said, that day, the defendant went home under the influence of alcohol and told the virtual complainant he would be leaving her but she must give him their eight months old daughter.
The prosecutor said, because Donald refused to comply with the request, Ferrier became annoyed and brandished the knife with the threat to wound her.
The woman became fearful and reported the incident.
The defendant told the court he was sorry and confessed that he was intoxicated, having consumed high wine and was not aware of his behaviour.
