In Region Two…

Chairman to raise vehicles speeding, overloading concerns with Police
CHAIRMAN of Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam), Mr. Parmanand Persaud has said speeding and overloading of mini-buses on the Essequibo Coast Public Road will be raised with the police.
Responding to Councillor Wazir Latiff, of A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), who brought up the issue at a statutory meeting of the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) on Tuesday, Persaud agreed it is a very important matter.
Latiff had pointed out that schools will be reopening next Monday and minibus operators will continue to overload their vehicles with children.
Persaud also called on the Private Sector in Essequibo to help paint pedestrian crossings, especially where schools are located, so children can cross the road safely.
