GMSA hosts seminar on planning for trade shows

THE Guyana Manufacturing and Services  Association (GMSA) yesterday facilitated a one-day seminar where two dozen representatives from local companies and public sector agencies were exposed to effective and modern techniques for planning and designing an exhibition booth. Facilitating seminar, titled “Successful Exhibiting: Maximising Your Trade Show investment”, at Red House, Kingston, was Toronto-based consultant, Ms. Sandra Ann Baptiste.
She addressed key areas including trade show budgeting and planning, staffing and working the booth, marketing and sales techniques, improving trade show profitability, and measuring post show earnings.
Participants were treated to an interactive session which touched on integral areas, such as ‘breaking the ice’, which are seen as critical to the successful staging of Guyana’s long standing and emerging trade shows like GuyExpo and the Building and Construction Expo.
In his address at the closing ceremony, GMSA President Clinton Williams said the hosting of the seminar was timely, particularly with the upcoming Building and Construction Expo and GuyExpo.
He noted too that it is one of the association’s role to train its membership, whether micro or macro businesses, as they continue to focus on the improvement of product design and development, which in turn influences direction in terms of business activities, and ensures that businesses get optimum market for goods and services.
Alluding to Ms. Baptiste’s role as facilitator, he said, “She came to share her experiences and to highlight international best practices that every business owner should adopt when preparing their products and services. This particular strategy is another initiative in the direction to sustain growth in sales and revenue and other areas”.
