THE Guyana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA), in conjunction with Briso Promotions, will stage a 10-bout amateur boxing card on April 30 in Linden. The competition will form part of Linden Town Week celebrations and will see Guyana’s best amateur fighters on show.
GABA president Steve Ninvalle said yesterday that Briso Promotions CEO, Seon Bristol, has always been interested in the development of amateur boxing in Guyana and recently made the proposal to stage the competition in Linden.
“It is our hope that we will be able to field several fighters from Linden on the card. Linden has not seen much boxing activity for some time,” Ninvalle said.
The Town Week event will be staged just two days before a team departs for Brazil to participate in the Olympic Qualifier. Bantamweight `Magic’ Imran Khan is expected to be a part of the team.
