Man denies theft of $205,000 gold chain
KEVIN Brutus (no address given) was granted $65,000 bail yesterday, on a simple larceny charge. At Sparendaam Court, East Coast Demerara, before Magistrate Alex Moore, Brutus had been charged indictably but on application by defence counsel, Gwendolyn Bristol, the Administration of Justice Act (AJA) was applied and the defendant pleaded not guilty.
Particulars of the offence alleged that, on March 6, at Sophia, Greater Georgetown, he stole a gold chain, valued $205,000 from Ann Smith.
Police Sergeant Bernard Browne represented the prosecution and the case was put off to April 19, for trial.
