Baby killed by pressure cooker hurled by Mum at Dad

DOCTORS at the Georgetown Public Hospital late yesterday failed in a desperate bid to save the life of a two-month-old baby boy allegedly struck on his head by a pressure cooker hurled at his father by his mother, during a misunderstanding between his parents. Dead is Andy Hunte of 78 La Ressouvenir, East Coast Demerara. He was struck on the forehead and never regained consciousness.
The child was rushed to the hospital by his father, James Hunte, and admitted to the Accident and Emergency Unit around 13:58hrs, suffering a fractured skull and a deep laceration to the forehead.

On admission, the doctors immediately got about preparing him for admission to the Intensive Care Unit, after which he would be taken to the operating theatre. He died about three hours later.
This newspaper learnt from a reliable source that, the couple had a misunderstanding shortly after midday, and as tempers flared, the child’s mother, in a fit of temper, picked up the pressure cooker and hurled it at her husband who was holding the baby at the time.
