Police officer, fiancé being questioned by police

… as they investigate murder of 20-yr-old Leonaka Johnson
A POST-MORTEM carried out on the body of 20- year-old Leonaka Natasha Johnson called Tasha revealed that the young woman died as a result of asphyxiation due to drowning compounded by blunt trauma to the body.
Johnson’s body was on Saturday discovered in a canal only yards away from her home at 17 Nismes by a passerby who quickly alerted residents in the area.
Sister of the deceased, Candasie Johnson, in an interview with this publication, said that the family is looking for full support from the police and anyone who might have information about her sister’s death.
Johnson said her younger sister had left home on Thursday evening to meet a police officer friend whose name was given as Richard, and she never returned home.
She explained that later that night, the family received a phone call from the now dead woman, inquiring whether they too had blackout and said that she was at the police officer’s home and would be returning home soon.
The family said that’s the last they heard from the
dead girl.
Johnson said on Saturday morning, minutes after 06:00hrs, one of the neighbours came over to inform the family that a little boy who had been chasing his cows had just discovered a body floating in the canal outside of their home.
The family is of the view that Tasha had been killed only hours before the body was found, since there was blood oozing from her nose and rigor mortis had not yet stepped in.
Johnson said she does not have a clue as to what might have transpired but her sister could have been murdered in the wee hours of the morning right in front of their home or someone could have killed her and brought her body there.
According to Johnson, the police have in their custody her sister’s fiancé and they also said that they will be keeping the police officer for questioning and to assist with investigation.
Leonaka Natasha Johnson, called Tasha, would have celebrated her 21st birthday on March 30.
