GFF Super League round up …

BK Western Tigers, Alpha United & Amelia’s Ward secure wins
BK Western Tigers, defending champions Alpha United and TLC Amelia’s Ward   secured full points in winning their weekend matches in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) 2012 Super League which saw play at three venues.
At Uitvlugt, newcomers to the Super League BK Western Tigers continued their winning ways when they defeated Seawall 3-0 in the first of a double-header. In the supporting game Den Amstel shared points with another newcomer Pele in a 1-1 draw.
BK Western Tigers started their attack with the Atlantic wind in their favour which took them off target most of the time on goal during the first half but were assured of points in the 20th minute when Daniel Favourite dribbled a free ball through the drifting Seawall defence to slip it past the goalkeeper, sending his team into the lead 1-0.
The score remained unchanged at halftime.
The resumption saw the west side team make inroads on the Tigers defence but again excellent goalkeeping from young Legall prevented the ball from scoring. Dwayne Alli then took his shot on the weary Seawall keeper and scored after the defender handled the ball in the penalty area as Ali converted.
The score then was 2-0 in the tiger paws as the Seawall forwards hunted desperately for a goal or two to share the point but they was denied as Orville Milton converted to seal the score line minutes before the final whistle adding another  goal to make it  3-0.
In the supporting game, Den Amstel and Pele played exciting football, executing technically and tactically. They played to both coaches’ instructions and displayed good football skills
Pele was the first to register through Jamaal Cozier in the 33rd minute. The score remained unchanged at first half. However, on resumption the second half saw interesting football again by both teams as Pele fought to keep the lead, aiming for full points but their hopes were shattered when defender Solomon Austin fouled Den Amstel forward in the penalty area and Kester Jacobs converted to draw the game, thus sharing points.
At GFC ground defending champions Alpha United showed their dominance and consistency in their game against BCC Rosignol United.
BCC Rosignol United opened the score sheet in the first half through Delroy Fraser in the 17th minute and saw the score remain in his team’s favour at the end of the half.
On resumption the league champions stepped up the pace claiming possession of the ball in the opponents half and squandered a few sure goal-scoring opportunities before Manasseh Primo converted in the 57th minute to settle the score.
Twenty minutes later his teammate Clive Andrews found the net in the 77th minute to seal the game for Alpha securing full points, the score ending at the final whistle 2-1.
At the MSC ground rain permitted play in one match of the double-header as Amelia’s Ward won against Buxton United.  Carlos Grant scored in the first-half in the 40th while the East Coast side tried to survive at the waterlogged venue.
On resumption in the second half of a game in which the home side dominated, Matthew White netted in the 65th minute sealing the score and giving his team full points in the league.
