‘Dhal Belly’ wanted for questioning

CRIME Chief Seelall Persaud yesterday disclosed that police investigations have been snagged since a wanted bulletin had been issued on October 24, 2012 for Ryan Kissoon, called “Dhal Belly”,
a fugitive whom the police wanted to question in relation to the death of 84-year-old Pharmacist Harold Rachpaul, of Rachpaul’s Drug Store in Robb Street, Lacytown, Georgetown on August 18, 2011. A post-mortem examination had revealed that Rachpaul died from asphyxiation, and Persaud disclosed that no one had been arrested, although the police had questioned several persons in respect to Rachpaul’s death. However, the police had managed to pinpoint that suspect after questioning certain persons.
Anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of Ryan Kissoon, called “Dhal Belly”, is asked to contact the police on telephone numbers: 225-2227, 225-6411, 225-8196, 226-7065, 227-1149, 911, or the nearest police station. All information will be treated with strict confidence.

Well-known pharmacy owner Harold Rachpaul of Lot 75 Robb Street, Lacytown, Georgetown was discovered murdered in his living quarters aback of his pharmacy by relatives who had gone to open the premises for business.
Police said his body was found at about 08:00 hrs on August 18, 2011 with his hands tied and his mouth gagged with cloth. An undisclosed sum of money was reported to have been stolen.
The business place was ransacked, and several phone cards, among other items, were missing. There was no sign of forced entry into the building, and the man had several dogs which guarded the place. The father of five had lived alone, his wife resides overseas.
His son-in-law, Roger Philip, told reporters that Rachpaul was an easygoing, peaceful person, who attended Burns Memorial Church.
