Speedboat Association proposes new Supenaam terminal, public convenience

THE Supenaam/Parika Speedboat Association has proposed to construct a new, modern stelling and public convenience facility at Supenaam to boost its services. Member of  the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) of Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam), Mr. Farouk Khan told the statutory meeting of the proposal on Tuesday.
The former Member of Parliament (MP) said the association wrote to the Good Hope/Pomona Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC) about it, stating that the terminal will have facilities for passengers’ accommodation and wants the place to look clean and bright so visitors can have a good impression of the Region.
The Regional Chairman, Mr. Parmanand Persaud said the idea is a good one but will have to be discussed with members of the association before the Ministry of Public Works is informed.
Discussions at the RDC meeting also surrounded a car park for the Supenaam area and for garbage and junk to be removed from the port of entry and exit.
A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) Councillor, Mr. Wazir Latiff supported the proposition for the new stelling and public convenience at Supenaam.
