Shot Randy Morris charged with $9.6M armed robbery

RANDY Morris, 32, of Lot 263 Freeman Street, East La Penitence, has been charged with the $9.6M armed robbery committed on businessman Roger Hinds last January 10. The accused appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman yesterday, facing the indictable robbery under arms charge and was remanded to prison until March 16.
Particulars of the offence said it was committed in Joseph Pollydore Street, Lodge, also in Georgetown.
Police Inspector Robert Tyndall, prosecuting, successfully objected to bail and asked for some time to seek advice in the case.
He said the accused had a scuffle with police and was injured.
Defence counsel, Gordon Gilhuys said Morris was at his girlfriend’s home when the police arrested and shot him in the abdomen.
The lawyer requested that the prisoner be seen by a private doctor and claimed that the police would always arrest Morris whenever there is a robbery.
The magistrate instructed that the accused be seen by a private doctor.
