FUGITIVE felon, Randy Morris, who is wanted for questioning into a number of armed robberies, was shot and injured Friday night during an attempt by the police to arrest him. Police say that acting on a tip-off around 23:30hrs on Friday, ranks went to a house on Quamina Street, here in the city, in search of Morris.
On realizing that the game was up, police said Morris attacked them with a knife, which caused one rank to respond by discharging a round, which grazed the felon in the region of the abdomen.
Morris is currently receiving medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC).
On November 15, 2011, police issued a wanted bulletin for Morris, called ‘Remey’, for questioning in relation to a robbery-under-arms committed on Kenneth Joaquin on November 09, 2011 in the vicinity of Hunter Street and Mandela Avenue, Georgetown.
In that bulletin, the last known address of the 32-year-old fugitive was given as Lot 263 East La Penitence, Georgetown.
On the day of the alleged robbery, Joaquin, a miner at Arakaka (Region One), was travelling in a motor car in the city when he was held up by a man toting a gun and relieved of a bag containing $5M in cash.
The incident reportedly occurred around 09:00hrs while the car was awaiting the traffic light.
Joaquin was also shot in the left thigh before the perpetrator made good his escape on a motor cycle ridden by an accomplice.
