Guilty of larceny, to do forty hours of community work

DENNIS Benaldo, 40, of Sparendaam, East Coast Demerara, appeared before magistrate Alex Moore at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court yesterday, charged with larceny.
Benaldo allegedly stole two potted plants, property of a plant shop.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge, and stated that he was extremely sorry for what he had done. He told the magistrate that he had already given back the plants.
Magistrate Moore took his confession as a guilty plea and took into consideration that he is already facing a larceny charge and had been put on self-bail approximately two weeks previously.
The defendant was ordered to perform 40 hours of community service by April 10, or face the alternative of one month in prison.
