The Inter-Religious Organisation of Guyana (IRO) has extended Phagwah greetings to all Guyanese especially its Hindu brothers and sisters. In a press release, it said, “We are all enveloped in some difficult periods of time throughout our lives and seek solutions in various ways. Each of us desires a life of happiness and prosperity. The festival of Phagwah brings the message that right thoughts and conduct combined with faith lead to a life of bliss.”
“In our present age, actions that we perform are quickly rewarded, therefore, those who throw flowers in the path of others will receive flowers and whoever place thorns in the path of others will receive thorns. If you cannot throw flowers do not throw anything. This festival of Phagwah teaches that man can be fearless and resolute in difficult circumstances yet respectful and modest. Deceit and cunningness is like a blazing fire that we enter with the sole intention of doing harm to others. Like Holika, we will be consumed by the said fire unlike Prahalad who was the embodiment of purity,” it said.
“As we decorate each other with different colours, let us also beautify our humanity with spiritual values. Happy Phagwah to all,” the IRO said.
