THE quality of the floats and cultural and national presentations that were made in the just concluded Mash celebrations were yesterday lauded by Minister of Local Government and Regional Development, Ganga Persaud. Minister Persaud hosted a press conference at his ministry in Kingston, along with Minister within the Ministry, Minister Norman Whittaker, and Permanent Secretary Collin Croal.
Persaud observed that this year’s celebrations were challenged by negative weather conditions, but that each region which could not participate in the float parade in the capital city had its own regional parades.
“The celebrations were good. The quality of the floats and the various presentations, cultural, national, were of a high standard. And we wish to extend the ministry’s appreciation to all the persons who were involved for playing a significant role in celebrating another anniversary in Guyana,” Persaud said.
Croal observed that Regions 3, 4, 5, 6, and 10 participated in the celebrations at a national level in the float parade.
He said the celebrations were successful from the regions perspective, and that the next major national event would be Independence Day. The regions have already started to prepare for that, he reported.
