DELLON Lanferman’s hat-trick inspired Uitvlugt to reach the final of the West Demerara Football Association Inter-Club U-17 football tournament yesterday, when they beat Eagles 7-6 at the Den Amstel Community Centre ground. Uitvlugt led the goal-scoring in the first half as the score line read 4-1 with an own goal from Eagles Scottie Leitch.
Earlier Dryan Giddings opened the scoring for Uitvlugt in the second minute and netted again in the 18th minute, commanding the lead, and six minutes later Denzil Christiani scored in the 24th minute.
Dellon Lanferman then took control, scoring in the 43rd and 45th minutes taking the score to 4-1 at half-time.
Eagles came out flying high over their opponents when they got a reviver in the 50th minute from Jamaal Duncan just after Uitvlugt got the fifth goal from Daniel Floy and the score read 5-2.
Two minutes later Jamel Stephens scored for Eagles 6-3 as they continued to force their opponents into full defence. This did not help Uitvlugt as Eagles’ Javene Eastman scored in the 62nd minute having the score at 6-4. Seon Miller with a runaway pass got the ball past the Uitvlugt goalie to see the score line read 6-5 as the pressure mounted.
Stephen Griffith’s equaliser brought hope to the tired Eagles team and after having the scores tied at 6-6 their goalkeeper committed a foul in the penalty area.
Lanferman nailed it sending his team Uitvlugt into the lead at the end of regular time.
