ON BEHALF of The board of directors, executives, and members of the New Jersey and Guyana Arya Samaj Mandir Humanitarian Mission, I would like to extend warm wishes to the people and Government of Guyana on the occasion of Republic Day which was celebrated on Thursday. I also wish to make special mention of the successful Interfaith Awareness Service, a great step for Guyana in addressing domestic violence and sexual abuse from different angles.
I wish to express our sincere gratitude to Amelia Veeren and Colleen Given, whose moving testimony is the cornerstone of this movement’s mission to stamp out domestic violence and sexual abuse in our society. Thanks to the Honourable Jennifer Webster, Minister of Human Services and Social Security for being our keynote speaker and David Armogan, Chairman, Region 6, for their renewed commitment.
Professor Daizal R. Samad, University of Guyana Berbice Campus is preparing the next generation to tackle these issues head on. We also thank him for sharing his passion and knowledge.
In Guyana’s evolving economy, it is very encouraging to see the business sector engaging with the public on social issues. Thanks to the Upper Corentyne Chamber of Commerce, Central Corentyne Chamber of Commerce and the New Amsterdam Chamber of Commerce for leading the charge and rallying with other business entities to address and curb these issues.
Special acknowledgement to Dr. Vishwa Mahadeo, CEO of the Berbice Regional Health Authority, St. Francis Community Developers, and Guyanese Women in Development (GuyWid), members of the clergies representing Hindus, Christians, and Muslims; Rotarians, Lions. Print and TV media for their tireless efforts.
The success of the Interfaith Service and gathering would not have been possible without the people who work behind the scenes. To our faceless and selfless volunteers who for the sheer thought of touching a single life, give their time and energy, we are humbled by your diligence. To our loyal supporters, without your selfless generosity, we would not be able to touch so many lives. It is your work that we do. Thank you.
I remain the humble servant for the poor
