Emmie Shepherd celebrates 100th today

EMMIE Shepherd will be celebrating her 100th birthday today and a family get together has been planned to commemorate the milestone at the Redeemer Lutheran Church on Sheriff Street, Campbellville, Georgetown. ‘Aunt Emmie’, as she is well known,  likes going to the place of religious worship and singing hymns and is encouraging others to do likewise and trust in God for a healthy and long life.
She still reads the newspapers, although near-sighted and is very up to date with the latest happenings. She can also speak fluently.
Her grandson, Neville Ramkissoon, told the Guyana Chronicle, yesterday, that she is a warm person, who leads a happy lifestyle, surrounded by her loved ones.
She has five children, 26 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, one sister and scores of other relatives and friends.
‘Aunt Emmie’ lives with relatives at Lot 53 Stone Avenue, Campbellville and, today, they will all celebrate with her at the church, where there will be a service and food and drinks served.
Her family thanks the Almighty for the rich blessings he has bestowed on her and for keeping them together in strength and happiness.
