British fan’s candlelight vigil burns house down

A WHITNEY Houston fan who held a candlelight vigil for the tragic singer accidentally set her house on fire.
Anne Lomax, 53, staged her tribute by playing hits like ‘I Will Always Love You’ before saying a prayer and lighting a candle in the star’s memory.
But she left it burning when she went to bed, and had to flee for her life as fire swept through the ‘semi’ early Wednesday, February 15.
She said: “I had been sitting at the computer playing Whitney’s music and saying a prayer for her.
“I was a big fan, and I was devastated when she died, so I thought I would light a candle. My thoughts were with Whitney; I had a tea-light on the windowsill.
“I thought I blew it out when I went to bed, but next thing I knew the smoke alarms were going off. It’s devastating; I could have died.”
Fire crews in Oldham, Greater Manchester, rescued three dogs from the house after the blaze spread from curtains. (TheSun)
