Autopsy confirms Sophia mechanic died of gunshot injury

– Crime Chief
POLICE Crime Chief Seelall Persaud said the post mortem examination performed on the body of Sophia mechanic Marlon ‘Junior’ Welch revealed that he died from shock and haemorrhage, as a result of gunshot injury to the head.
The Assistant Commissioner told the Guyana Chronicle that the death is still being investigated but no one was arrested since the man’s niece was released on bail.
She was at home with Welch on the day the 33-year-old was killed at his Lot 195 ‘A’ Field, Sophia address about 01:50 hrs, on Friday, February 17.
Welch, who was last seen watching television, was, later, discovered, by his reputed wife, with injuries to his head. The door to the house was open and several panes were missing from a louvre window.
He was taken to a private hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The niece told police they were in the house when her uncle went outside to investigate a noise and then there was a loud explosion.
Meanwhile, Esau Thomas, 20, of Ann’s Grove, East Coast Demerara, was yesterday charged with murdering Kumar Plummer.
The accused appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton and  was remanded to prison until February 24.
The body of Plummer, of Line Path, Skeldon, Corentyne, Berbice, was found in a mining camp at Armu Backdam, Cuyuni, on February 15.
