THE Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced yesterday that Ms. Khadija Musa presented her credentials to Carolyn Rodrigues – Birkett, Minister of Foreign Affairs, appointing her as United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative of Guyana. Ms. Musa succeeds Dr. Mamadou Kiari Liman – Tinguiri, whose tenure has ended.
Prior to her appointment to Guyana, Ms. Musa served as Deputy Resident Representative of the UNDP to Egypt, where she was responsible for the management and implementation of development programmes.
The Government of Guyana is committed to the further strengthening of its existing programme of co-operation with the UNDP which is supportive of national development priorities,” according to a statement from the Foreign Affairs Ministry last evening.
These priorities include those that are aimed at alleviating poverty and realising the Millennium Development Goals by the 2015 United Nations target date.
“The Government of Guyana therefore stands ready to support Ms. Khadija Musa in the discharge of her responsibilities,” the statement concluded.
