NSC completes another successful Teach Them Young 2 programme

… Warren Mc Kay wins 35 laps Invitational race
NATIONAL cycling coach Hassan Mohamed and team conducted another successful Teach Them Young 2 cycling programme on the inner circuit of the National Park yesterday which saw 11 exciting events from BMX Boys 6-9 yrs to Veterans over 60 years compete.
In the event, which was sponsored by the National Sports Commission (NSC) some 80-odd cyclists participated and at the conclusion coach Mohamed expressed thanks to the participants and the winners. He lamented that there should be a seminar held by clubs to educate the cyclist regarding the roles of the cyclist and the type of races there are participating in.
Mohamed noted that the  programme  has been running for 36 years and has produced national cyclists over the period.
He expressed thanks for an accident-free event and announced the upcoming calendar of events leading into the month of March.
The opening race of the day: Boys 12-14 BMX – 1st Alfie Sonaram. There were no girls in a similar category. Veterans U-50 (5 laps) – 1st Keith Fernandes, 2nd Kennard Lovell, 3rd Shamir Baksh.
Veterans Over-50 (5 laps) – 1st Kirkwood Kellman, 2nd Wilfred Thom, 3rd Lance Rose. Veterans Over-60 (5 laps) – 1st Monty Parris, 2nd Maurice Fagundes, 3rd Harry Lall. Juveniles (10-laps) – 1st Davenand Bisson, 2nd Kirt La Rose, 3rd Rawle Leal. Upright cyclists (5 laps) – 1st Richard Charles, 2nd Mario King, 3rd Kester Croal. Sprint prize Richard Charles.
BMX Boys 6-9 yrs (2 laps) – 1st Turan Gharham, 2nd Ken Sukhdeo, 3rd Isaiah Sukhdeo. BMX Boys 9-12 yrs (3 laps) –  1st Yusuf Latiff, 2nd Shamir Dass, 3rd Jubari Ming. BMX Boys 12–14 (3 laps) 1st Adrian Sharma, 2nd Christopher Griffith 3rd Jubari Ming.
BMX Open (3 laps) – 1st Mikhail Dass, 2nd Cleveland King. Schoolboys Invitational 35 laps – 1st Warren McKay, 2nd Raynauth Jeffrey, 3rd Raul Leal, 4th Rastaf Oselumo, 5th Robin Persaud, 6th Alonzo Greaves. Sprint prizes were Raynard Jeffrey winning 5 and Warren McKay 3 of the prizes.
