— in costumes of pure white
DIGICEL Guyana has launched its Mashramani Band, showcasing costumes of purely white. This event occurred on Thursday last at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) Ground,Queenstown, Georgetown.
The theme for this year’s band is “Reflection” which depicts a reflection of Guyana’s minerals, waters, and the country as a whole.
Designer, Olympia Small-Sonaram, said that since white was the preferred colour of the costumes, which were made in various sizes to suit all body shapes — from very sexy to modest — it was a work of art to create the costume pieces.
Meanwhile, Digicel’s Public Relations Manager, Shonnet Moore, said the costumes would be given out without charge to recipients, but are available only to those persons involved in the Mash Fit programme being hosted by physical exercise trainer Curtis McKenzie from Monday to Friday at 5pm at the DCC Ground.
She added that persons desirous of “mashing” with the band on Mashramani Day still have a chance to secure costumes by becoming involved in the Mash Fit programme as of Monday, February 13 and continuing throughout the week.
Moore explained that on Thursday February 16, there will be a grand Mash Fit workout at the Guyana National Stadium at Providence, East Bank Demerara, and participants will be in for some surprises.
Artistes Jumo ‘Rubber Waist’ Primo and Adrian Dutchin will also be participating in Digicel’s band this year.
Digicel secured first place in last year’s Mashramani Road March competition when they came out all decked in purple, gyrating under the theme “Royalty”.
This year’s costumes were launched with a display, as models gyrated to popular Soca songs blaring from a sound system.
