Guyana lose Chattergoon on rain-ravaged day

HAVING recorded a convincing win over the Leeward Islands in the first round, Guyana, winning the toss and batting, reached 24 for one at the close on a rain-ravaged opening day of the their second round Regional Four-Day Championship match against Windward Islands at Windsor Park yesterday. Only eight overs were possible after play started at 16:30hrs and having survived a confident appeal for lbw off the first delivery of the match from Nelon Pascal, Guyana lost Sewnarine Chattergoon. He did not hang around long, as he was sent back via the same route off the next delivery.
The left-handed Leon Johnson joined Rajendra Chandrika and he too was forced to survive a torrid spell of fast bowling from Pascal who was getting the ball to do a lot in the heavily overcast conditions, before another one of many rain interruptions forced the players off the field.
