Muslim delegations off to Suriname and T&T for Youman Nabi celebrations

OFFICIALS from the Muslim Youth League of Guyana (MYL), The Guyana United Sadr Islamic Anjuman (SADR) and the Anna Catherina Islamic Complex (ACIC) will be part of a large delegation travelling to neighbouring Suriname this weekend to participate in their Eid Milad un Nabi (Youman Nabi) Celebrations. The delegation will be guests of the Ashabe Islam Jamaat of Nickerie, Suriname. President of the Jamaat, Munaf Madhar, recently brought a large delegation to Guyana for the Eid Milad un nabi programmes here.
Also travelling with the group is Mufti Ghulam Ahmad Chisti, a Pakistani-born Muslim scholar now based in Trinidad & Tobago with the Anjuman Sunnatul Jamaat Association Inc (ASJA), the twin island’s main Islamic organization.
Another group will also depart Guyana for Trinidad & Tobago to be part of their Eid Milad un nabi Celebrations there, hosted by ASJA. The groups will be led by President of the MYL, Shabir Hussain and President of ACIC, Hakeem Khan, and include several other executives of the organizations. While in Trinidad, they will be part of the activities of ASJA, including a performance by world-renowned Nasheed / Qaseeda Singers Group – ‘Aashiq Rasool, who will be visiting the twin island republic as guests of ASJA. They will also attend and participate in several other activities of ASJA.
The Guyanese officials will also meet with their counterparts in Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago ASJA to discuss their participation in this year’s International Qaseeda Competition in Guyana in April. Suriname & Trinidad & Tobago are expected to send delegations to this event.
