I WAS appalled and disgusted when I heard both television hosts Basil Bradshaw and Mr. Bunny Alves on their programmes “Wake up Guyana Show” and “Flava” respectively, notifying the general public on what took place at the junior calypso competition in Linden. It was revealed that even though the judges were alerted by one of the contestants with a demonstration that highlighted a wrong was being committed, that the music of one of the contestants was a stolen melody being used, it resulted in that very contestant winning the crown.
I am also appalled as to how that second contestant gained second position, when it was mentioned that she forgot a verse or line. What is really going on?
And why was there no proper coverage from the television stations and newspapers on this competition? As a member of the viewing public I am still hoping to see some clips of the winner, second and third prize winners on the topics they chose and their presentations.
