JOHN Terry will miss Chelsea’s Premier League game against Manchester United tomorrow, with the knee problem that kept him out of Tuesday’s match at Swansea. Terry, who was stripped of the England captaincy for the second time in his career yesterday morning, has been unable to train this week, meaning Gary Cahill may make his debut.
The news will come as a sigh of relief to the FA, who were facing an awkward situation for the second time in as many weeks.
Terry goes on trial on July 9, charged with racially abusing Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand.
It had been reported that Ferdinand’s brother, United defender Rio, would refuse to shake Terry’s hand before kick-off.
The usual pre-match handshakes were cancelled ahead of QPR’s FA Cup tie against Chelsea last weekend after it emerged that Anton and several team-mates were considering snubbing Terry.
