A BERBICIAN man was severely chopped on Monday after he robbed a family of jewellery and money at 40-Feet Dam, Zorg, on Essequibo Coast. It is reported that the bandit, Shanka Peraud had his left arm actually severed and is under Police guard at Suddie Hospital.
Reports said he barged into the home of Ganraj and Deowattie Narine around 10:00 hrs and was in one of the upper flat bedrooms in the two-storey building when the woman decided to go upstairs with her baby.
As she entered the sitting room, she saw the stranger and immediately called her husband, who rushed the intruder with a cutlass but the latter fled and was hotly pursued for several miles, eventually, suffering the chops before being apprehended by police.
