…also investigating body in Zeelugt Cemetery
POLICE are collaborating with their overseas counterparts to locate a Guyanese man who brutally murdered his wife earlier this month and fled the local jurisdiction after the crime. So far, the local authorities have been unsuccessful in locating Seon Rodney, who hurriedly left the country after he repeatedly stabbed his wife to death in their home on January 17, 2012.
Police said that the body of Rushelle McDonald, 33, of Boodhoo Housing Scheme, Blankenburg, West Coast Demerara, was found at about12:00hrs in the kitchen of her home, with multiple stab wounds. Three blood-stained knives were found at the scene by the police.
Acting on information that the suspect had escaped in motor car PNN 9420, police ranks in all divisions were alerted and the vehicle was found abandoned on the public road at Carlton Hall, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara.
Meanwhile, a post-mortem examination performed on the body by Government Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh revealed the cause of death as asphyxiation due to a severed trachea as a result of an incised wound to the neck, compounded by incised wounds to the body.
And police are also investigating the murder of Afrozie Ali, called “Lizzie”, of Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo, whose body was found in the Zeelugt Cemetery on Sunday, January 15, 2012.
The prime suspect, a man of unsound mind, a well-known drug addict called “Sonny” was released from police custody.
Police said at about 09:30hrs on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, the suspect in the Ali murder was arrested by members of the Tuschen Community Policing Group and handed over to the police.
A post-mortem performed on Ali’s body revealed she died of asphyxiation due to manual strangulation compounded by blunt trauma to the head.
