Defendant charged with forging, uttering forged passport

GREGORY Niles (no address given) appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday, charged with uttering a forged document and conspiracy.
It is alleged that, with intent to defraud, he uttered a forged Republic of Guyana passport to an immigration officer, purporting that it was genuine.
He is also accused of having, between April 8, 2011 and January 19, 2012, with intent to defraud, conspired together with persons unknown to forge the travel document purporting to show that it was issued by the Central Immigration and Passport Office.
Niles pleaded not guilty to both charges and was granted bail in the sum of $200,000, until February 2.
