– motorcycle used in robbery, part booty recovered
GOOD investigative and surveillance work conducted by police ranks on the West Coast of Demerara have led to the arrest of two perpetrators who attacked and robbed 36-year-old Abdul Khan, goldsmith and businessman of Cornelia Ida, West Coast Demerara last Sunday. The police were also able to recover a quantity of the gold jewellery that was stolen, and motor cycle CD 5115, which was used in the robbery, was also recovered hidden among some bushes at Orangestein, East Bank Essequibo.
A source close to the investigation disclosed that Khan had completed selling at Cornelia Ida, and was about to enter his motor vehicle when he was held up by the men, who took away a bag with gold and silver jewellery valued at $4.7 million, along with a gold weighing scale and goldsmith tools before escaping in motor car PHH 8006, which was parked in a bushy area at Orangestein, East Bank Essequibo.
The men were allegedly captured in a house at East Ruimveldt, Georgetown on Monday, and are in custody as investigations continue.
