One driver in two-car collision remains critical

THE motorist injured in the head-on collision between two motor cars at Den Amstel, West Coast Demerara on Monday afternoon, remained in a critical condition yesterday. Dave Bhagahu, 26, of Hague, also on the West Coast Demerara, is a patient in the High Dependency Unit (HDU) of Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).
Bhagahu, who was transferred from West Demerara Regional Hospital (WDRH) on Monday night, was placed on oxygen feed but was unconscious most of the time.
His neck was fitted with a brace and he appeared to have suffered broken limbs as well. Consequently, he was sent to have x-rays done. When The Chronicle visited the hospital yesterday, he was conscious but still in a critical condition in the HDU.
Meanwhile, three other passengers in the car which collided with the one Bhagahu was driving, are warded at the WDRH. They have been identified as Anil, the driver; his mother and an uncle known as Hardeen, all of La Jalousie, West Coast Demerara, listed as critical but stable.
The accident happened around 17:00 hrs when the white ‘Toyota Allion’, driven by Bhagahu, was negotiating a dangerous turn in the vicinity of Den Amstel Police Station and Post Office.
The driver, apparently, lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a silver grey ‘Toyota Carina’ 212, the wreck of which was left at the scene for several hours into the night.
Leonora Police are investigating the accident.
